Sri Lankan style Fish Curry

Simple fish curry with ingredients that are almost will be at home. Here is recipe for you all try.





Ingredients
  • Fish 500 gm, any white fish slices
  • Onion 1 large, sliced
  • Tomato 2 medium, chopped
  • Green Chilli 3 , slitted
  • Garlic 6 cloves, chopped
  • Curry Leaves 2 sprig
  • Coriander Leaves 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
  • Chilli Power 2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder 2 tsp
  • Coconut Milk 100ml ( 2 tbsp)
  • Tamarind Pulp 1 tbsp
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil 
To Temper
  • Cinnamon Stick 1 inch
  • Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek Seeds 1 tsp
  • Fennel Seeds 1 tsp
  • Peppercorns 2 tsp

Method

Wash and rinse well with water and drain them well and keep it aside. Marinate fish with salt, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder set aside for 10 minutes. 

Heat a medium size sauce pan and add oil. Put mustard seeds, fenugreek, fennel, pepper corns, curry leaves and cinnamon stick. Saute for few seconds. 

Add the garlic, green chilli and onion and saute for 4 minutes or until the onion is translucent. Add the chopped tomatoes and saute for 2 minutes. Now add the chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt, stir well. Add 3 cups of water and cook for 3 minutes. Add the tamarind pulp and stir well. When the bubble start coming stirring occasionally for 6 minutes. Now add the fish slices and lower the heat to low. Cover and cook for another 8 to 10 minutes or until the fish is cooked through. Stir in the coconut milk and simmer for 2 minutes. Sprinkle over the coriander leaves. Serve hot with steam rice.
