Normally we make rasam and used to have it with rice. Here I tried rice and rasam together, its delicious and healthy. Good for kids, you can add extra ghee while serving for kids. Here is recipe for you all to try.

Ingredients
  • Rice 3/4 cup
  • Chana dal 1 tsp
  • Toor Dal 2 tsp
  • Garlic 2 cloves, sliced
  • Tomato 1 big one, cut into medium pieces
  • Sambar Powder 1 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Tamarind 1 gooseberry size ( soak it in water and take the extract)
  • Water 3 1/2 cup
  • Salt
To Temper
  • Ghee 2 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Curry Leaves 2 sprigs
  • Coriander Leaves few chopped
Method

Soak chanadal and toor dal in water for 15 minutes. Take a pressure cooker and add all ingredients and soaked dals put the whistle and cook for 4 to 5 whistles. Allow this to cool. Now open the lid and smash the rice with ladle.

Heat a small pan and add ghee, once it melts temper mustard seeds, cumin seeds, pepper powder and curry leaves. Pour over the rice and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve warm with curd or pickle.

NB: I didn't use rasam powder in this, if you want can use that instead of sambar powder. Enjoy cooking..
