Squid Masala Curry (Koonthal masala curry)

Spicy and delicious squid masala curry, its easy onion and tomato base masala curry. If you like spicy then defenetly like this curry. Here is recipe for you all to try.

  • Squid 500gm, cubed
  • Onion 3 nos, sliced
  • Tomatoes 2 nos, chopped
  • Green chillies 4 nos, slited
  • Ginger -Garlic Paste 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Curry Leaves 3 sprigs
  • Cumin Seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder 2 tsp
  • Kashmiri Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder 2 to 3 tsp
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Coriander Leaves few chopped

Wash and clean squid and cut into medium size cubes. Here i got frozen squid strips. Now marinate it with little salt and turmeric powder and keep it for 20 minutes. 

In a medium size sauce pan heat oil and splutter mustard seeds, add cumin seeds and curry leaves. Saute for few seconds. Now add sliced onion and saute for 2 minutes. Add green chilli and ginger garlic paste saute until onion becomes soft. Now add red chilli powder, kashmiri chilli powder, turmeric and coriander powdered cook for 2 minutes on low flame. Add chopped tomatoes mix well, cover and cook until tomato gets mashed. Now add marinated squid cubes cover and cook for 5 minutes on medium low flame. Add salt and little water now, cover and cook for 10 to minutes in medium low flame or until the squid cooked and gravy thickened. Stir in-between. Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well, cover and keep for 5 minutes before serving. 

NB: Adjust chilli powder according to your spice level. If you want the curry more thick then don't add any water. Enjoy cooking..
