Central Kerala style mathi curry with raw mango. Here is very tasty recipe for you all to try.
- Mathi / Sardines 6 nos
- Mango 1 big
- Coconut 1/2 cup, grated
- Red Chilli Powder 2 tsp
- Kashmiri Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
- Shallots / Small onion 3 nos
- Ginger 1 medium piece, chopped
- Curry Leaves 2 sprigs
- Green chilli 4 slit
- Coconut Oil 3 to 4 tsp
- Water 2 1/2 cup
Clean and wash mathi cut into 2 or 3 pieces. Peel and remove seeds of mango and chop it to small to medium sized pieces. Grind the coconut, shallots, ginger, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, kashmiri chilli powder and water as required to make fine paste, keep aside.
Heat a manchatti(clay pot) or sauce pan add ground coconut paste , water, curry leaves, green chilli and coconut oil, keep it for boiling. When it boils add math, mango pieces, salt and boil for 5 minutes. Cook covered for about 20 minutes, keep it in low flame. Garnish with curry leaves and sprinkle little coconut oil and put off flame. Serve with warm rice.
