Onion Pakoda / Onion Fritters

I don't think this simple snack need an introduction. Its a popular snack in India. Good to entertain guests or just to enjoy the pleasant rainy evening or cold winter days. Crispy onion pakavada with tea awesome combination. Here is Kerala style Onion pakoda recipe for you all to try.



Ingredients
  • Onion 2 large, sliced
  • Gram Flour 1 cup
  • Rice Flour 2 tsp
  • Garlic 4 nos, chopped
  • Green Chilli 3 nos, chopped
  • Curry Leaves 1 sprig, chopped
  • Red Chilli Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder a pinch
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
Method

Take a medium size bowl and add sliced onion, garlic, green chilli, curry leaves, chilli powder, turmeric powder and asafoetida. Mix well. Now add rice flour and gram flour sprinkle some water and mix well. Add salt and mix well. It should be thick batter. 

Heat oil in a Kadai or wok add one spoon of onion mix and fry pagodas on medium heat till golden brown on both sides or until crisp. Drain the pakavada on kitchen towel. Serve hot with tea.
