Kerala style crab roast, its a traditional, spicy and dry preparation. I am a great fan of crab dishes, in-between i made crab but forgot to take photos so couldn't post, finally i could post this recipe in my blog. Hope you all will like this dish. Here is recipe for you all to try.
Ingredients
- Crab 250gm, cleaned
- Onion 2 medium size, sliced
- Green Chilli 3 nos, slited
- Tomato 1 medium size, chopped
- Curry Leaves 3 sprigs
- Coconut Milk 1/4 cup. thick one
- Water
- Salt
- Coconut Oil
For the Masala Paste
- Garlic 3 cloves, chopped
- Ginger 1 small piece, chopped
- Shallots 5 nos, chopped
- Red Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
- Kashmiri Chilli Powder 3/4 tsp
- Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
- Coriander Powder 1 1/2 tsp
- Black Pepper Powder 1/2 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder 1/2 tsp
- Water
Method
Clean and keep crab aside. Drain water well.
Grind together all the ingredients listed under 'for masala paste' to form a thick paste. Keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan and add onion, green chilli and curry leaves. Saute till it turns golden brown on medium flame. Add the masala paste and cook over a medium flame, stirring continuously for 3 to 5 minutes or until oil separates. Add chopped tomato and cook until it turns soft and oil separates. Add salt and stir well. Add crab and 1/2 cup water now and combine well. Cover and cook until its done. Uncover and cook until gravy thickends. Add coconut milk and mix well Cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until the gravy coats the crab pieces. Add few more curry leaves and mix well. Serve warm with rice.
NB: Its a spicy crab roast, you can adjust the spice level according to your taste.
