Uppilitta Manga and Uppilitta Nellika, I know both are everybodys favourite. Its the best way to preserve raw mangoes and gooseberries. Here I used brined mango and gooseberry to prepare pickle, its very simple and easy to make. Here is the recipe for you all to try.
- Uppu Manga / Brined Mango 1/2 cup sliced
- Uppillitta Nellika / Brined Gooseberry 1/2 cup sliced
- Garlic 3 cloves chopped
- Green Chilli 2 chopped
- Red Chilli Powder 1 tbsp
- Vinegar 1 1/2 tsp
- Fenugreek seed powder 1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida Powder a pinch
- Salt
- Oil
Method
Drain and keep brined mango and gooseberry. Heat oil in a pan or kadai, add chopped garlic and saute for 1 minute. Now add chopped green chilies saute for 1 minute. Keep in low flame and add red chilli powder and saute well. Add vinegar now and combine well. Add mango and gooseberry slices and saute well. Now add fenugreek powder and asafoetida powder and mix well. Add salt now and mix well. Once its cool keep it in a glass container.
NB: If you want to keep this pickle for longer period, then warm some oil and pour on top of the jar and keep so that you can use this pickle for one month or so. Other wise keep it in the fridge. Enjoy cooking.
