Method

Grind grated coconut and green chilli to a fine paste by adding some water. Keep it aside.

Heat oil in a kadai or medium size skillet add sliced onion and fry for 1 minute. Now add chopped tomatoes and mix well. Cook this for 5 minutes covered until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy. Season with salt and sugar and mix well.

Now pour the coconut paste and mix well. Cook this for 3 to 4 minutes on medium low flame. Switch off flame and let it cool a bit then add 1 cup curd and mix well.

Heat a small pan on medium flame with oil , splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli and curry leaves. Pour this over the pachadi and mix well. Serve this with warm rice. It goes well with Roti too.

NB: The pachadi colour will change the tomatoes which you use. Over ripened tomatoes gives little more red colour. I used medium ripen tomatoes. Enjoy cooking..
