Brinjal Puli Curry

Brinjal cooked in tangy tamarind sauce with minimum ingredients. Its simple side dish goes well with warm rice. Here is recipe for you all to try.


Ingredients
  • Brinjal 8 nos
  • Garlic 4 nos, sliced
  • Green Chilli 3 nos
  • Red Chilli Powder 1 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind 1 lemon size
  • Jaggery 1 medium piece
  • Mustard Seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Dry Red Chilli 2 nos
  • Curry Leaves 2 sprigs
  • Salt
  • Oil
Method

Wash and cut brinjal into thin slices and keep it aside. Heat a kadai or pan and put oil, splutter mustard seeds. Add dry red chilli and curry leaves. Saute for 1 minute. Add garlic cloves and saute for few seconds. Now add brinjal pieces and saute for 1 minute. Now add red chilli powder and turmeric powder and saute for few seconds. Now add tamarind pulp with little water and salt. Boil and cook until the brinjal is cooked. Then add jagger y and mix well. Check salt , if need add accordingly. Remove from fire once the gravy is thick. Serve warm with rice or roti. 

NB: If you want the brinjal is little mashed, then saute in oil for sometime then add chilli powder and all. I want to bite as pieces so made like this. Enjoy cooking..
