Kashmiri Chicken Kofta Curry

Kashmiri chicken kofta curry is one of the simplest and tastiest meals you can make. Its a rich dish, perfect for lunch or dinner. Koftas are spiced meatballs usually made with beef or lamb and deep fried. Here is different kofta recipe used chicken instead of meat and also unfried kofta cooked in a rich yogurt sauce.Hope you all will like it. 



Ingredients

For the meat balls
  • Minced Chicken 500gm
  • Grated Ginger 1 tbsp
  • Egg 1
  • Garam Masala 1 tsp
  • Ground Fennel 1 tsp
  • Onion 1 
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
Curry
  • Fennel Seeds 1 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds 1 tsp
  • Garlic Paste 1 tbsp
  • Tomatoes 1
  • Yogurt 120 gm
  • Ground Cardamom 1tsp
  • Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Ground Cumin 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tbs
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Oil

Method

In a big bowl, mix well all the ingredients under “ for the meat balls” and form small meat balls. Keep aside.

In a pan heat oil, on medium flame. Add cumin seeds and fennel seeds. When it start crackle, add yogurt and ginger, garlic paste. Let it cook for a minute.

Now add the grated tomato (or tomato paste), salt and all powder spices. Mix and cook for 2 minutes.

Add water and when it starts to boil, bring the kofta in the gravy. Let it cook for 3 minutes then turn the kofta on the other side.

Cover and cook for 30 minutes on low - medium flame.

Once done, garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve it hot with roti, steam rice or jeera rice.
