Manga Thokku, is one of my favourite pickle. One of my friend makes this very well, learned this simple recipe from her. Its a good side dish with curd rice. Here is recipe for you all to try.
- Raw Mango 2 cups, grated
- Turmeric Powder
- Oil 1/4 cup, Sesame Oil / Sunflower Oil
- Salt
To Ground
- Dry Red Chilli 10 to 12 nos
- Fenugreek Seeds(Methi Seeds) 1/4 tsp
- Mustard Seeds 1/2 tsp
To Temper
- Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
- Asafoetida Powder a pinch
Method
Dry roast the dry red chilli, fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds and then ground it into the fine powder.
Remove the mango skin and grate it. Heat oil in a kadai and temper mustard seeds, once its splutter add asafoetida powder and mix well. Now add the grated mango and saute for a minute. Add ground powder, turmeric powder and salt saute well and cook till the mango become soft. Once the oil leaves at the top, put off flame and keep for cooling. Once its cool down you can keep it in a glass bottle. Serve with warm rice / curd rice / dosa.
NB: Didn't add any preservatives so please keep it in the fridge. If you want can add little more oil and keep it out side for a week. If you are keeping in the fridge as it is, it will stay for a month.
While serving the pickle use dried spoon. Enjoy cooking..
