Radish Greens Thoran

Here is a healthy radish thoran recipe, most people just twist off the leaves from radishes and throw them into the dustbin. But this leaves once we cook its mild and delicious.


Ingredients
  • Radishes with Leaves 2 nos
  • Onion 1 medium chopped
  • Turmeric Powder 1 pinch
  • Green Chilli 3 nos slitted
  • Coconut 2 to 4 tbsp, grated
  • Salt

To Temper
  • Oil 
  • Mustard Seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds  1/4 tsp
  • Dry Red chilli 2 

Method

Pick over the Radish leaves to remove weeds and yellowed leaves. Wash the radishes and their leaves well in fresh water, Drain well. Finely chop the leaves and radishes and keep separately. 

Heat the oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once its crackle add red chilli saute for a minute. 

Now add chopped onions and green chillies and saute for 2 minutes. Add the chopped radish and turmeric powder saute for a minute then cover and cook for 3 minutes. Open and add leaves stir well and cook covered for 3 minutes. Open and add salt mix well and cook for 1 minute. Mix in the coconut and stir cook until hot and little dry  about 2 minutes. Remove from flame. Serve hot with Rice or Roti.
