Chicken Leg Fry / Chicken Drumstick Fry Kerala Style

Chicken Drumsticks fry, one of my favourite chicken dish. Its spicy and delicious can be served as a starter or a side dish. Here is simple and easy recipe for you all to try. 


  • Chicken Drumstick 5 nos
  • Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tbsp
  • Pepper Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder 1 1/2 tsp
  • Kashmiri Chilli Powder 1 tsp
  • Fennel Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Curd 1 tbsp, thick one
  • Lemon Juice 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves 3 sprigs
  • Oil 


Wash and clean chicken drumsticks, and make small slits on each chicken drums. Take medium size bowl take pepper powder, garam masala, coriander powder, fennel powder, red chilli powder, kashmiri chilli powder, curd, ginger garlic paste, salt and lemon juice. Mix well and coat the chicken drumsticks well with this spice mixture. Keep it in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours. 

Heat oil in a kadai, once the oil is hot enough transfer marinated chicken pieces to it. Deep fry them by turning regular intervals on medium heat. Add some curry leaves to oil for garnishing. Remove from oil when it done. Transfer it to a kitchen tissue. Chicken drums are ready to serve now. Serve with fried curry leaves, onion slices and lemon wedges. 

NB: If you want can add food colour, i didn't add food colures, added some kashmiri chilli powder to get this colour. If you are in a hurry and no time to marinate chicken please cook drumsticks in the pressure cooker for 1 whistle then apply spices and keep for 5 minutes then deep fry. Enjoy cooking..
