Simple Goan Green chicken curry, its very easy to make and has a different taste. Here is recipe for you all to try.
- Chicken 1 kg, cut into medium size pieces
- Ginger Garlic Paste 1/2 tsp
- Green chillies 4 nos
- Coconut 1/2 cup, grated
- Curry Leaves 2 sprigs
- Coriander Leaves 3 cups
- Mint Leaves 1 cup
- Pepper Corns 1/2 tsp
- Cumin Seeds 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
- Onions 2 large, chopped finely
- Sugar 1/2 tsp
- Cinnamon stick 1 inch
- Dry Red Chilli 2 nos
- Cardamoms 4 nos
- Few coriander leaves to garnish
Clean and cut chicken into medium size pieces and marinate with little salt, 1/4 tsp of pepper powder and turmeric powder a pinch. Keep aside for 20 minutes.
In a mixer grind, coconut, coriander, mint, salt, sugar, turmeric powder, pepper corns, cumin, half the onions and green chillies into a smooth paste.
Take a medium size sauce pan put oil, once its hot add cinnamon stick, cardamom and dry red chilli. Fry the chopped onions, now add the ginger - garlic paste and fry well. Add ground coconut masala now and saute well. Now add the marinated chicken pieces and curry leaves, add 2 cups pf water, cover and cook till the chicken is done, you can cook in the pressure cooker too, just one whistle is enough and simmer for 5 min.
Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with warm rice or roti.
NB: It tastes better next day.
