Apple Rabri / Kheer / Payasam

Wishing you all a Happy Diwali..

Apple kheer / payasam , healthy and delicious desert for this Diwali. Im sure your family will love this simple and awesome desert . Here is recipe for you all to try.


  • Apples 3 big size
  • Sugar 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Condensed Milk 3 to 4 tbsp
  • Milk 3 cups, full cream 
  • Ghee 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Cardamom 4 to 5 crushed
  • Almonds few
  • Pista few
  • Saffron few

Wash and clean apples and grate them with the peel. Heat a heavy bottom pan over medium heat, melt 2 tbsp of ghee and put grated apples, saute until apples gets cooked. It will take around 8 to 10 minutes. Add sugar and keep stirring the mixture. 

Meantime heat a small sauce pan over medium heat with 2 cups of milk, boil till the milk get reduced as 1 cup. 

After adding the sugar apples become soft and little bit transparent. Make sure apple is cooked properly. Then add 3 tbsp of condensed milk and 1 cup of milk. Stir it continuously. Now add the thick milk which we boiled and made like mawa. Add crushed cardamom. Cook for another 5 to 7 minutes till the mixture get thick consistency. Turn of the heat. Add saffron threads and chopped nuts . Apple kheer is ready to serve. You can serve this hot or cold. If serving chilled keep it in the fridge for 1 hour and serve. 

NB: It is important to cook the apples properly before adding milk else milk will split and you may end up in mess. So please take care. You can prepare this and keep in the fridge one day before and serve on next day. Enjoy cooking..
