Manglorean Sardine Curry

Hot and spicy Sardine curry, its a very simple and tasty curry. I know you all love Sardines ( Mathi ). sardines are rich in nutrients that are essential for good health, it contain Omega 3 fatty acids. So here is Manglorean style Sardine curry recipe for you all to try. 


Ingredients
  • Sardines 1/2 kg
  • Red Chillies 5 to 8 (whole)
  • Kashmiri Chilli 3 to 5 (whole)
  • Coconut fresh 1/2 cup grated
  • Coriander seeds 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
  • Fenugreek Seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Black Peppercorns 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Onion 1 medium size chopped
  • Garlic 4 cloves chopped
  • Tamarind pulp 2 tbsp
  • Green Chillies 5 nos
  • Ginger 1 inch size chopped
  • Salt
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves finely chopped to garnish.

Method

Clean Sardine and marinate with red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and keep for 15 minutes. 

Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, add red chillies, kashmiri chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and black pepper corns. Roast on slow flame. cool the roasted masala.

Add coconut, onion, tamarind and garlic to it put this into a grinder or blender and grind this well in it.

Take a clay pot or a sauce pan put the ground masala and add the required quantity of water to make the curry. Add salt to taste. Add green chillies and ginger pieces mix well and bring to a boil. 

When the curry has boiled for 8 minutes, add the sardines and allow to simmer for 4 to 5 minutes. check the salt and all. Remove from flame . Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with hot rice or chapati.
