Prawns vada, simple and easy snack item. Its spicy and flavorful. Good to serve for an evening party as an appetiser. You can call this as prawns cutlet. We liked it, I am sure you all will like this. So here is recipe for you all to try.
Ingredients
- Prawns 500gm
- Shallots 6 to 8 nos
- Ginger 1 medium size chopped
- Green Chili 3 or 4 nos
- Curry Leaves 2 sprigs
- Coconut 1/2 cup, grated
- Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
- Kashmiri Chilli Powder 1/4 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder 1/2 tsp
- Black Pepper Powder 1/2 tsp
- Rice Flour 1 1/2 tsp
- All Purpose Flour 1 tsp
- Lemon Juice 1 tsp
- Salt
- Oil
Method
Remove peel and deveine prawns and rinse with turmeric powder and water well . Drain water well and marinate with 1/4 tsp of red chili powder, little turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp of black pepper powder, salt and lemon juice and keep it aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
Take a blender and add marinated prawns, shallots, ginger, green chili, curry leaves, coconut, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, red chili powder, kashmiri chili powder, garam masala powder, 1/4 tsp black pepper powder and salt grind it to a coarse mixture.
Now transfer this ground mixture to a bowl and add rice flour and all purpose flour combine everything well. Heat oil in a kadai or frying pan on medium hot. Once the oil is hot enough can start frying vedas. Before that we can make small patties with this prawns mixture. Grease your palm with little oil make a small balls with ground prawns mixture and flatten it into thin patties and deep fry them on medium flame. After 2 minutes turn the vada's and fry till its crispy. Drain them on kitchen tissues and serve warm with tea or with warm rice.
NB: If you feel to cook the prawns before grinding, then cook them with little salt and turmeric, once its cooked cool down and grind with other ingredients and make vedas. You can shallow fry this vada's, keep cover and cook for 3 to 4 minutes and then turn into other side, so that inside cooks well. Spices and chilly can add according to your taste. Enjoy cooking..
