Aval Payasam / Rice flakes Payasam

Aval Payasam, simple and delicious payasam with aval. Here is sweet and healthy payasam recipe for you all to try.

  • Aval 1/4 cup
  • Milk 2 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery 1/4 cup
  • Ghee 2 1/2 tsp
  • Cashew Nuts 6 to 8 nos
  • Raisins 8 to 12 nos
  • Cardamom Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Safforn 2 strands

Heat a teaspoon of ghee in a pan and roast cashew nuts and raisins, keep it aside. Soak saffron strands in 1 tablespoon of warm milk and keep it aside. Melt jaggery in little water and filter it and keep it aside. 

Take a medium sauce pan and heat ghee and add aval and fry till it changes color and crispy. Remove and keep it aside. Boil milk in the same pan, add aval now and cook till milk reduces a little. Meantime aval will also become soft. Then add melted jaggery , cardamom powder, saffron, mix well and put off the flame immediately. Garnish with cashew nuts and raisin and serve warm or cold.
