Sardine (Mathi) Onion Fry

A tasty recipe for this cold water fish which contains very high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids which are essential for brain and vision development. Sardines are also rich in iron, potassium and vitamin B6.

I think everybody like Sardine(Mathi / Chala) and its the favorite fish of Keralites, normaly we make fish curry or fish fry, here is different recipe with sardine.



Ingredients
  • Mathi / /Sardine 5 nos.
  • Kudam puli 3 nos.
  • Curry leaves. 5 springs with the stem.
  • Turmeric Powder. 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder. 1/2 tsp
  • Onion sliced 3
  • Green chillies. 3
  • Ginger crushed 1 tsp
  • Garlic crushed. 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder. 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut oil. 3 tsp

Method

Cook the fish along with salt , kudampuli n turmeric powder in little water. When the fish is cooked well. Take the flesh of the fish. 

Heat coconut oil in a manchatti or frying pan and add mustard seeds. Then add sliced onions, crushed ginger, crushed garlic, sliced green chillies and sauté untill onion become slight brown in colour.  Then add red chilli powder, pepper powder n salt. Mix it well. 

Add the cooked sardines flesh in to it. After adding the fish pieces swirl the clay pot to mix everything well. Add some curry leaves n switch off. 

Serve hot with steam rice.
