An easy and delicious chutney that goes very well with Idli, Dosa, Upuma and Chapathi.
- Urid dal 1/2 tsp
- Tomatoes 3 nos
- Onion 2 nos
- Green chilli 1
- Red chillies 3 nos
- Garlic cloves 2 chopped
- Coriander leaves few
- Oil 2 tbsp
- Sugar a pinch
- Salt as required
- Mustard seeds
- Curry leaves
- Oil 1 tbsp
Chop onions and tomatoes into medium sized pieces.
Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan, sauté red chillies for few seconds (take care not to burn it) and remove it from the pan.
In the same pan add urid dal sauté till it's become brown and remove it from the pan.
Add onions in the same pan and sauté until onions turn transparent.
Then add chopped garlic, tomatoes, coriander leaves and cook until tomatoes become slightly mushy.
Allow the mixture to cool. Once it cools, grind it along with red chillies, urid dal, salt and sugar (not too smooth paste).
Heat 1 tbsp oil, add mustard seeds, when its splutters add curry leaves and put on top of ground chutney.
