Pocket Shawarma

Yum
Shawarma chicken is a middle eastern fast food. This pocket shawarma is not like the original type, its an easy version that we can make quickly at home. I have used all purpose and wheat flour for this recipe thats why the color is little more brown and crispy outside. If you want can use only all purpose flour for this. Here is an easy and quick meal recipe for you all to try.

Ingredients

For the dough
  • All Purpose Flour 1 cup
  • Wheat Flour 1 cup
  • Yeast 3/4 tsp
  • Oil 1 to 2 tbsp
  • Sugar 2 tsp
  • Salt
  • Luke warm water to mix the dough
For the masala
  • Chicken 250 gm, boneless
  • Onion 1 medium size
  • Ginger 1 small piece, crushed
  • Garlic 4 cloves, crushed
  • Carrot 1 big one, chopped finely
  • Capsicum 1 medium size, chopped finely
  • Green Chili 1 , chopped finely
  • Black Pepper Powder 1 tsp
  • Salt
  • Coriander Leaves / Parsley Leaves few chopped
  • Oil

  • For the Ranch Dressing

  • Mayonnaise 1 cup
  • Sour Cream / Yogurt 1/2 cup
  • Garlic Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Onion Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Dill Leaves few chopped
  • Parsley few chopped
  • Pepper Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt
Method

First will make dough and keep it. Mix yeast with luke warm water and keep it for 15 minutes. Take a big glass or steel bowl and put all purpose flour, wheat flour, sugar, salt, oil and yeast mixed with water and combine everything well. Knead it to smooth dough by adding luke warm water little by little. Keep it aside for 2 to 3 hours for fermentation.

Now cook chicken, here I used boneless chicken breast, so cleaned that and cooked chicken breast with little water, salt and pepper powder. Once its cooked cut into medium stripes and keep it aside.

Heat a medium size pan with oil and add crushed ginger and garlic and saute for few seconds. Now add chopped onion and green chillies, just saute for few seconds. Add chopped carrots and saute for few seconds. Now add chopped capsicum and saute for just a second. Add pepper powder and salt and combine everything well.

Take a medium size bowl and add ingredients under for the ranch dressing and combine everything well. Now add Ranch dressing and combine everything well. After adding dressing it should look like semi gravy type.

Roll dough into thin medium size poori and place the fillings middle of the poori. Place another poori on top covering the filling and press the edges with your finger. Fry them on both sides until golden color in hot oil on medium low flame. Repeat the same with remaining dough and filling. Cut into half and serve warm.

NB:  If you dont want to make ranch dressing then use only mayonnaise for this recipe. You can use store bought Ranch dressing for this. Enjoy cooking.
