Should serve this hot with coconut chutney then only you get the exact taste. I loved this delicious snack, so here is recipe of you all to try. I think in traditional recipe they dont add onions but I have added chopped onions.

Ingredients
  • All Purpose Flour / Plain flour 2 cups
  • Red Onion 1 medium size, finely chopped
  • Ginger 1 medium piece, finely chopped
  • Green Chillies 3 nos, chopped
  • Curry Leaves few , chopped
  • Coriander Leaves few chopped
  • Coconut 1/4 cup, grated
  • Curd / Yogurt 1 cup
  • Baking Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Sugar a pinch
  • Salt
Method

Take a medium size bowl and add 1 cup curd , sugar, salt, baking soda and mix well. Now add all purpose flour and mix well to a smooth batter. It will be thick batter and to be elastic and well in dropping consistency. Now add chopped coriander leaves, curry leaves, ginger, chopped green chili and grated coconut. Combine everything well and cover and rest for 3 to 4 hours.

Take a kadai or deep frying pan keep on the medium high flame with sufficient oil to fry the bajjies. Once the oil is hot enough reduce flame and make lemon size bajjis, drop them one by one to oil. Fry until the bajji turns golden brown. Remove the hajjis carefully from oil. Drain oil properly and serve hot with coconut chutney.

NB: Green chili and leaves please add according to your taste. If you want can omit onions in this recipe. You get 25 to 30 bajjis with above ingredients. Enjoy cooking.
