Oven Baked Tiger Prawns

Yum
These garlic and chili prawns are baked in the oven so they cook evenly and still you get that delicious crunch. This is especially good for when you have to feed a crowd and its a good way to cook the tiger prawns or big size prawns without over cooking them. Here is recipe for you all to try.

Ingredients
  • Tiger Prawns 1kg
  • Butter 1/2 cup / 125gm
  • Vegetable Oil / Sunflower Oil 1/2 cup / 125ml
  • Chilli Flakes 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Garlic 10 cloves, chopped
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder a pinch
  • Salt
Method

Clean and devein the prawns and rinse well in water and drain water well. Now marinate prawns with lemon juice, turmeric powder and salt keep it aside for 20 to 30 minutes.

Pre heat oven to 180 degree C for 5 minutes. Cover baking tray with baking paper or aluminum foil and keep it aside. Lay marinated prawns on the tray, evenly spaced. I put wooden skewers because then its easy to handle. Soak the wooden skewers in water for some time then use it.

In a small sauce pan heat the butter and oil over medium heat and add the garlic and chili flakes. Cook for 1 minute. Pour garlic butter mixture evenly over the prawns.

Bake prawns for 12 to 20 minutes. Remove baked prawns in the plate and you can serve the sauce in a bowl. You can garnish prawns with chopped parsley or chopped coriander leaves or lemon wedges. You can serve these with crusty bread slices, potato chips, mashed potato or boiled sweet potato. I served with boiled sweet potato with peri peri sauce.

NB: Please adjust chili flakes according to your spice level, if you want to serve to kids then avoid chili flakes and add some pepper powder instead. Instead of tiger prawns you can use regular size prawns also for this recipe. If you are using small prawns then bake for 15 minutes only. Enjoy cooking..
