Kadachakka Payasam / Breadfruit Payasam

Bread fruit Payasam, its an interesting recipe. We Keralites calls "Kada Chakka or Sheema Chakka for breadfruits. I got breadfruit from my aunty during my Kerala visit and tried this recipe. It has high starch. We usually make curries and thoran with this. Here I tired payasam with this and it came out really well. Its delicious, easy and simple recipe for you all to try for this festive season. 


Ingredients
  • Breadfruit 1 medium one / half of the big one
  • Thin Coconut Milk 1 1/2 cup
  • Thick Coconut Milk 1 cup
  • Sugar 6 to 8 tbsp
  • Cardamom Powder 1 tsp
  • Cashew Nuts 1 tbsp chopped
  • Raisins 1 tbsp
  • Ghee
  • Salt a pinch
Method

Peel the outer skin of the breadfruit and cut into medium size cubes. Rinse well with water and keep it aside. Take a medium size sauce pan and heat it on medium flame. Add breadfruit pieces and thin coconut milk and cook on low flame until it becomes soft, stir in-between . Now add sugar and mix well. Check sugar if need add accordingly. Add thick coconut milk and cardamom powder now and combine everything well. Put off flame and add ghee roasted cashew nuts and raisins. Serve immediately as warm  or once its cold. It tastes good in both ways. Add salt now and combine everything well and serve. Enjoy cooking..
