Something deferent from our usual Dosa, one of my friend given me the idea and I just tried it came out well, so thought of sharing with you all. Here is simple and easy potato dosa recipe for you all to try.
Ingredients
- Dosa Batter 1 cup
- Potatoes 2 medium size
- Onion 1 large, sliced
- Ginger 1 small piece, chopped
- Green Chilli 2 nos, slited
- Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
- Curry Leaves 2 sprig
- Mustard Sees 1/4 tsp
- Bengal Gram/ Chana Dal 1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida a pinch
- Oil
Method
Wash and clean potatoes and pressure cook for 3 whistles. After it cools, peel the skin and mash it (not to fine paste). Keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add chana dal and asafoetida powder. Now add curry leaves and saute for few seconds. Add sliced onions, green chilli and ginger. Saute for 2 to 3 minutes until onion turns pink. Add turmeric powder and salt, stir well. Add 1/4 cup of water, when water start boiling add the mashed potatoes. Mix well and cook for few minutes until everything combines well. Do not add too much of water. Switch off the flame and keep it aside.
Once the potato mixture cools down, put it in the blender and just crush the mix, don't make it fine paste. Now add this to the dosa batter and mix well.
Now heat a dosa tawa or pan, once the tawa is heated ( don't heat too much), bring the flame to medium and pour a ladle of this potato dosa mix in the center. Using the back of the ladle, spread the batter in a circular motion. Drizzle a tsp of oil around the dosa. Once the edges start browning and the dosa is cooked, flip it and cook the other side. Repeat the process for the rest of the batter. Serve with chutney powder.
NB: Please take care the heat of the tawa, if its too hot you wont be able to spread the batter. If the tawa is very hot you can sprinkle little water on tawa before making the dosa. Enjoy cooking..
