Kappa Payasam / Tapioca Kheer

Yum
Kappa Payasam / Tapioca Kheer, its very simple to make with minimum ingredients. Its variety payasam from usual once and its very delicious in taste. I can't describe how much I liked this payasam hope you all will like this. Here is recipe for you all to try.

Ingredients

  • Kappa / Tapioca 250 gm / 1/4 kg
  • Milk 3 1/2 cup
  • Sugar 3/4 cup
  • Cardamom Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Almonds 6 nos, sliced
  • Black Raisins few
  • Ghee 1 tsp
  • Milkmaid 1/4 cup
Method

Clean and cut tapioca into medium size cubes. Take a medium size sauce pan put water and add tapioca cubes and boil for 3 minutes, drain that water and put another water and boil tapioca until its cooked and soft. Drain water and keep aside.

In a medium size sauce pan take 3 cups of milk and keep it for boiling. Once bubbles start coming from the milk add sugar and stir well. Boil milk well. Stir in-between.

Meanwhile mash the boiled tapioca with your hand don't put it in the blender and keep aside. Add mashed tapioca into the milk and stir well, cook untill thick. Add the remaining 1/2 cup milk and boil well, stir in-between. Now add cardamom powder and mix well. Before removing from stove add milk maid and mix well and remove from fire.

Heat a small pan with ghee, once ghee melts roast the cashew nuts and raisins then add into the paysam. Serve once it cool down.

NB: I didn't mash the tapioca very well, because want to bite the pieces, if you don't want to bite pieces mash well the tapioca pieces and use. But i think if you keep some small pieces and bite it tastes good. If you want any colour for this payasam you can add kesari colour or any other colour which you like. Enjoy cooking..
