Naranga Kichadi / Lemon kichadi, I made this dish for first time. Read about this in an article and searched for recipe, got recipe from Lakshmi Nair cookbook, then I made this delicious lemon kichadi and liked it. Hope you all started planning for sadya dishes. So sharing recipe for you all to try.
- Lemon 3 nos
- Ginger 1 small piece
- Green Chilli 2 nos, chopped
- Curd 1/2 cup
- Coconut Milk 1/4 cup, thick one
- Sugar a pinch
- Salt
- Mustard Seeds 1/4 tsp
- Dry Red Chilli 2 nos
- Curry Leaves 1 sprig
Method
Wash and rinse lemon well with water then steam them till they become soft. Once its cool cut into small pieces. Mix with salt and keep overnight or keep aside for 6 to 8 hours. Add chopped green chilli and ginger to the lemon pieces and mix well. Now add thick coconut milk and also add curd and a pinch of sugar . Check the salt add if needed.
Heat oil in a kadai or pan and splutter mustard seeds, dry red chilli and curry leaves. Pour this over the lemon mix and combine well. Simple lemon kichadi is ready to serve now.
NB: Here I got big lemons so used those, that also tastes good so if you dont get small lemons you can use the bigger once. If you are using big lemon then take only 2 numbers instead of 3. Enjoy cooking..
