Fruit and Sago Payasam

Yum
A healthy and delicious fruit payasam. A delightful mix of fruits and sabutana cooked in milk and nuts.


Ingredients 
  • 1/2 cup Sago (Sabutana) 
  • 2 cups(approx) Water to boil the sago 
  • 4tbsp (heaped) Milk Powder 
  • 2 tbsp Sugar 
  • 1 tsp Vanila Essence 
  • 1 small tin fruit cocktail (in syrup) 

Method

Boil the sago in water till it turns transparent. Drain and set aside.

In a sauce pan heat 2 cups of water add the milk powder and simmer. Stir and add the sugar.

Add the boiled sago and simmer for a few minutes till the sago blends with the milk.

Add the required amount of syrup from the fruit tin and adjust the sweetness.

If the desert has become too thick add milk to bring it to the desired consistency. 

Switch of the flame. Add vanilla essence. When the desert has cooled a bit add the drained fruits.

Garnish with ghee roasted cashew nuts n raisins and cherries.

Serve chilled.
