A simple and easy chutney with Ginger. Its flavourful and spicy chutney. It goes perfect with idli, dosa or with warm rice. Here is recipe for you all to try.
Ingredients
- Ginger 1 big piece, 1 1/2 inch size, chopped
- Chana Dal 2 tbsp
- Shallots 6 nos / Onion 1 small one, chopped
- Red chillies 4 nos, adjust according to your spice level
- Cumin seeds 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves 1 sprig
- Tamarind Pulp / Paste 1 tbsp
- Salt
- Oil
Method
Soak tamarind in hot water for sometime and extract the paste and keep it aside.
Heat little oil in a pan and roast all ingredients separately one after other until golden. Keep aside to cool.
Grind all the roasted ingredients, tamarind, salt and little water until smooth.
If you like can season the chutney with mustard seeds and curry leaves. Serve with idli, dosa or with warm rice.
NB: if you want to omit tamarind pulp add lemon juice. If you like can add asafoetida while seasoning. Enjoy cooking..
